The NCFE Level 5 Diploma in Teaching (DiT) is the new full teaching qualification for the post-16 education and training sector, replacing the Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training (DET/EAT). This Ofqual-regulated qualification is designed for aspiring and in-service teachers who want to develop the knowledge, skills, and professional practice required to teach in further education settings.
Course details
Learners will complete a blend of academic study and practical teaching experience, including a minimum of 250 placement hours and at least 10 formal observations. The qualification covers core areas such as curriculum planning, inclusive practice, digital pedagogies, and professional development. Successful completion can lead to roles in FE colleges, adult education, offender learning, and work-based training, and supports progression to Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) status.
